It appears that no matter what opposites sides of an issue want they can't make it happen.
The off shore oil drilling platform spill that threatens Louisiana may provide a lesson for both sides. Those opposed to off shore oil drilling may now gloat that we didn't follow their advice. Those for offshore oil drilling may now accept there share of blame for not preventing the spill. Government obviously doesn't know how to monitor or plan to prevent oil spills even cleanup after them. Citizens need to get interested in the issues and start deciding which side they are coming down on.
Man plans and God laughs. In short, we need to get our act together.
New illegal immigration in Arizona is now a focal point for protest. How dare we ask if they are citizens? How dare we ask that they be responsible for their actions while in this county? To the slain ranchers, drug cartel crime deaths, law enforcement being killed no relief appears to be in sight from the federal government.
Why do people come to America from their own countries? I believe it is for jobs or income not present in their own country. Should we permit people to enter this country illegally? Should it be considered a crime? Is there enough space for everyone to come to the USA? Why are our borders not secure? Probably because some powers within America don't want stop illegal immigration.
There are economic benefits to using illegal immigrants' labor. Slavery was often defended by the same economic benefits. What rights do citizens have that illegal immigrants don't have?
Do political parties seek hordes of new voters with amnesty deals? I think so! This is another issue that sound bites and protests won't resolve. I hope as citizens we can see a clear path to what is right and not politically correct.
Are you aware that congress members voted to automatically receive pay raises without having to vote for them? Why can't social security retirees receive the same consideration? Or are our senior citizen not important enough to be treated fairly? How much of our stimulus money is laying around in interest bearing bank accounts unspent and not stimulating?
If Goldman Sachs is successfully sued then members of Congress responsible for oversight of the Fannie Mae, Fannie Mac, SEC, and the federal treasury should be sued also for the same reasons. Fannie Mae and Mac have long been clamoring for banks to make risky loans to certain applicants. The watchdogs in one example spent there time watching Internet porn. Friends, I believe there is no entity too big to fail.
That includes governments current or future. We can't continue to spend what we don't have and expect others to pay for it. All debts must be paid or something will be seized!
Our government is responsible for the protection of our life, liberty, and person. The government is not an orphanage neither are we its wards. We exist to serve ourselves not the government.
I see no harm is checking what a man promises to see if he kept them. Politicians will always tell us frequently what we want to hear. Why spend big money on political campaigns to be told essentially nothing about what the candidate will do. The first casualty in politics is the truth. Is there such a thing as political science?
