Some nasty person on Cone's site made the remark to my friend Sam that he doesn't know "shit from Spagnola". Well he does now. In fact, he now knows the whole family. BB
>Many people are at a loss for a response when someone says, "You don't know
>Jack Schitt." Now you can intellectually handle the situation.
>
>Jack is the only son of Awe Schitt and O. Schitt.
>
>Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married O. Schitt, a partner of
Kneedeep & Schitt Inc.
>
>In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt, and the deeply religious couple
>produced 6 children: Holie Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Giva Schitt, Bull Schitt,
>and the twins: Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt.
>
>Against her parents' objections, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high
>school drop out. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt
divorced.
>
>Noe Schitt later married Mr. Sherlock, and because her kids were living
with them she wanted to keep her previous name. She was known as Noe
>Schitt-Sherlock.
>
>Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt and they produced a nervous son, Chicken
>Schitt.
>
>Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt were inseparable throughout childhood and
>subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding
>announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens wedding.
>
>The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse. Bull Schitt, the
>prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy
>with his new bride, Piza Schitt.
>
>So now if someone says, "You don't know Jack Schitt", you can correct them.
>Not only do you know Jack, you know his whole family!

You know in this election year when the rhetoric is heating up and dire consequences are being predicted if the other side wins the election for president and control of Congress I am reminded of something I wrote in high school. It was a national VFW sponsored "I Speak For America" essay contest. Despite all the fussing and feuding every four years, and no matter what has come and gone over the years this still applies, and will continue to apply. BB
America is not an administration or a president because they come an go. America is much deeper than any one person or group of people because they have their 15 minutes of fame and fade away leaving no real lasting memories. America is far beyond any political stance at any given time because these change with the winds. America can not be defined by its segmented parts on any given day or year or decade or century. America, Friend is defined by only one ideal: Freedom.
My grandparents came to America for Freedom. Freedom to speak any words they wished to speak. Freedom to earn their living the way they chose. Freedom to live where they preferred. Freedom to worship the God who moved them. FREEDOM to pursue any dream and make it a reality.

I received this from a dear friend this morning for my 67th. Birthday.
I was really feeling good
until she mentioned that this year was our 50th. high school reunion.
Somehow being 67
isn't as bad as
being out of high school for 50 years.
Oh well,
Happy Birthday to me anyhow. BB

"If current trends hold, the Internet will evolve into a 3D space, and virtual worlds will become an integral part of human communication. Real life will never be the same." See: July 17, 2008 The Wall Street Journal Editorial Page--Opinion "The 3D Internet Will Change How We Live" by Benjamin Duransky
Mr. Duranske, a writer and attorney, is the author of "Virtual Law: Navigating the Legal Landscape of Virtual Worlds" (American Bar Association Publishing, 2008)."
I don't know how you all feel about this, but BB can't wait. For a person who was born in 1941 and was 9 years old before I saw my first television program, the Internet as it is right now is a miracle. Virtual internet is going to blow the pants right off my fat old buns! BB
PS: Okay, I know you could have survived the day without that picture being lodged in your mind, but I simply could not resist. LOL and Much love! BB

Yep, I got fried in the last big thunder and lightning storm. I had left my computer on. I just forgot to turn it off. Anyhow, when I went back after the storm it was on and acting really, really weird: desktop rearranged, colors all different, and altho it would come on after two or three times of correctly following my instructions it would freeze. I think I read the Dummies book from front to back and tried everything I could think of and the book could suggest. This all punctuated with words I am not known to use often, and sometimes not even muttered but shouted at full voice. Nothing worked.
My husband, Lew , made the final and most logical suggestion. This one worked very well. He told me to just go buy a new one. I did. The best deal was on line and so it will be a week or so before I have my own computer. Am sharing Lew's. This arrangement didn't work when he was sharing mine and is a bit of a hardship now. I don't think it will lead to divorce however.
I am able to keep up with e-mail and favorite blogs but not much else. So my fans and friends will be denied my wit and wisdom for a few days. Just hang in there Dear Ones, I shall return . BB

When Lew and I retired to Greensboro it was our decision to rent rather than buy a home. We certainly are not looking to accumulate equity since we planned not to be selling the house until we no longer had need of any shelter but a nursing facility. Also Lew just didn't want the hassle of the upkeep, painting, mowing the lawn and all the other things that home ownership requires of one. When renting you need only make a phone call when something goes wrong or quits on you.
We chose Lake Brandt Apartments primarily because of the year round indoor pool. I love and need to swim almost daily to keep the old skeleton well oiled and operating. Without the swimming I feel like the Tin Man! And, the rent seemed comparable to other apartments that didn't have this lovely feature. They also allowed animals and there was no way I was going to give up my Darling Dinah.
I had done some research on renting since other than a short period before our home was built we had never rented. The literature stated that rents usually increase an average of 3 to 4 percent a year. We figured we could well afford that increase and it wasn't all that unreasonable though it was possibly more than the Cost of Living.
We moved into Lake Brandt on October 16, 2004 and have been content and happy to set down roots here. I have put in a flower garden on the slope off our patio that isn't mowed and last winter we had the rooms painted since I truly hate white walls. The rent increased but at a reasonable rate. We were getting comfortable and furnishing and decorating the apartment to suit our wants and needs.
This year the rent went up a whooping $80 per month. We were shocked to say the least. True there were new owners and they were making improvements in the apartments, but they were doing this as people moved out and had done nothing to our apartment. And as far as we knew had no intentions of doing anything but maintenance because I had asked and been told it wasn't likely. So what with the huge hike? We tried to negotiate a reduction but to no avail. It seems ours was the lowest rent in the building and we needed to come in line with the rest. And to top it all off the indoor pool is closed due to the water situation.
So Lew appointed me to look for some place else to live. There are less expensive apartments available but as I see it we would be merely changing one problem for another down the line when the rent again becomes more than we are comfortable with. So I am now looking for a house with fixed rate 30 year mortgage. This way the only thing that will possibly change is the taxes on a yearly basis.
I have done the footwork and secured financing and know exactly what type of loan we can get and for how much and the approximate interest rate. This is a Buyer's Market and the Fed dropped the interest rate another 1/2 point just yesterday so all's looking good where money is concerned.
I have also procured a Realtor and am signed up with the Listing Book. The Listing Book is a neat feature as it gives you information of what is available on the market with daily up dates as new listings appear on line. ( I do love computers! ) You can set your requirements as to price range, bedrooms, bathrooms and area of the city/county so you will see only homes that match your criteria. It is kind of fun and certainly beats all to heck the old way of relying on the Realtor to choose homes to show you and then running yourself ragged and getting the various features of the homes all mixed up in your mind.
I have an appointment to go out to view my first three houses tomorrow. Lew refuses to go with us as he will only look at the final version after I pick it. In October 2004 I never thought I would be setting out house hunting again. And certainly believed I would never again be faced with the packing and unpacking! BB
