I have the pleasure of reading newspapers from all over the world thanks to the Internet. Reading a people's newspaper gives one a better idea of their culture, their thinking and how they feel about Americans. This is why I know without a doubt how much the people of the world think of Americans and the United States despite the loud and obnoxious braying of some Americans about how much we are hated overseas.Another thing about reading newspapers from other countries is to see how much more clearly they from a distance can understand what is happening in our country than we can sitting right here on top of things, as they say. So I wasn't surprised to read this article in The Australian about American presidential candidates and presidents and our American media.
One quote is a fine summation: "EVERY decade or so the people who control the way we see the world anoint some American politician the Redeemer of a Troubled Planet."
PS: I wasn't sure where to categorize this post so I finally decided it was a national story from and international source. BB
