Headline:   Bush wants fast tax aid to boost economy

By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer Fri Jan 18, 6:37 PM ET

WASHINGTON:  "With recession fears rising and the stock market tumbling, President Bush on Friday called for up to $150 billion in tax relief for consumers and business, and said there was no time to waste."

"Bush's urgent remarks gave fresh impetus to congressional leaders already hard at work on an economic rescue package that would include extra money for food stamps and jobless benefits in addition to tax rebates of hundreds of dollars each for millions of Americans. The hope is that people would immediately spend those rebates and give the economy a badly needed boost."

This is the course of action the government has used to push the country away from a recession in the past.  The difference this time is that the  deficit has never been so large  and the dollar hasn't seen this kind of devaluation since the 1930's.  I hope it works, but I am reading a lot of skepticism between the lines from the top economists.  BB

If the government sends us money, where does it come from? In order for one person to get another has to give.

I believe we are now at the point where the money for this scheme will be coming from our great grandchildren. However, I may be wrong and it may be our great great grandchildren. BB
