Message from New Hampshire? Maybe.

I can say I was rather pleased with the outcome of the New Hampshire primaries yesterday.

Hillary’s slight win over Obama  (39% to 32%)  put a damper on what might have become an Obama parade.  An Obama presidency I would see as a disaster as I have said on this site before.  The power brokers in Washington would simply chew him up and spit him out leaving the country totally under the control of Congress.  On the world stage he would have no credibility at all.   World leaders would see the United States as sending a toddler in diapers to deal with them.  He would get lots of applause and smiles then patted on the head and sent home.

On the other hand, Hillary can not win a general election.  She quite simply is not liked as a human being.  It has nothing to do with her being female.  I believe this country is ready for a woman president; it just isn’t Hillary.  Any votes she gets is because people think they will get Bill back.  Bill Clinton even with his bimbos would carry the country if he could run again.

It is my opinion that Romney needed to win in Hew Hampshire to stay in the race.  His second place finish wasn’t enough.  Huckabee is dead I hope.  Tho the Southland could bring him back.  He can not however win a general election.  People are not stupid and  they do not want a Baptist preacher with a Baptist preacher’s mentality as president.  The born again Christians may be a nice sized voting block, but they are not enough to carry the country.

My man Rudy hasn’t shown very well but then he won’t in these small states.  He will however carry the larger states especially in the East.   He will have to work hard to get California but neither will California go for Romney, Huckabee, Clinton and Obama.  I believe as the field stands only McCain can take California.  He certainly has the Hispanic vote.

McCain’s appeal is his honesty. He is liked and respected by people of both parties because he is perceived as that rare bird, an honest politician. They may not agree with him, but they believe that he sincerely believes what he is saying. I also think this is how he is perceived on the world stage as well.

His POW experience I don’t think has anything to do with his popularity or respect. It is just too far in the past. Military service at one time was important, but as we learned from recent past elections that time is over except for the over 60 crowd maybe. The military service brouhaha didn’t defeat Kerry, it was his inability to appear sincere and honest and take a firm stand on any issue. (Just an aside here, McCain advised Kerry not to use his military experience in his campaign. He should have listened.)

I am of
course still firmly  on the side of Rudy Giuliani as the next president of the United States.  At this time in history we need a tough, pragmatic, politically street smart  president.  I have referred to him as a street fighter and this he is.   We need him on a national basis because he can not be rolled by any opposition in Congress.  He is willing to deal, but won’t be over run.  We need him on the  international  scene for the same reason.  He will deal with other countries, but in a show down he will not back down.  For example, Giuliani would put the anti-missile bases in Europe and tell Russia’s Putin what to do with his empty threats.  The only problem he would have is if Putin cuts the oil supply to the European countries to get their compliance.  And, this move just might backfire on Putin because the world has not forgotten the communist and have not enjoyed seeing Putin bring communism back to Russia.

I have been debating on a running mate for Giuliani and have concluded that a Giuliani/McCain ticket might very well carry the country. The tough street fighter and the honest politician. This would be a middle of the road balanced and pragmatic combination and would get the vote of some Democrats who simply can not stand Hillary and feel that Obama lacks experience. Also I think it would appeal to Independents and all but the most conservative Republicans. BB
